the217.com (now defunct) was Champaign-Urbana’s most extensive local entertainment website, bringing together buzz weekly magazine and WPGU 107.1 FM to keep people in the know about local events.

The217.com runs on a custom-made CMS powered by the cakePHP framework. It was developed in-house at Illini Media Company in Champaign, IL, and its CMS has been used to build several other company websites. Development time was approximately one year. The site launched on November 1, 2007.

The CMS was reused for several other web projects at Illini Media Company, including Technograph and Daily Illini Classifieds and Apartment Search.
