The Daily Illini is the student-run newspaper of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
DailyIllini.com was powered by the Drupal content management system and was previously hosted by the College Publisher service.
In 2008, it was decided that College Publisher no longer met the needs of the students, and in April of 2009, the site was re-launched on a customized Drupal installation. All archival content from the College Publisher databases had to be imported into the new Drupal-based site.
Additionally, a mobile device layout was created for the site.
Due to budget constraints, Illini Media Company was no longer able to maintain servers sufficient to run their larger sites. In April 2011, the Daily Illini site was outsourced to a development company. The current incarnation of the site is hosted by Detroit Softworks on their Gryffon CMS.
